Take up reel tearing the media

#1 pideas1 2 years ago

I've been having some take up reel issues lately. I would attach the media to the take up reel and the first few feet would wind fine onto the take up roll. Then after about 5-10 feet of media, the media starts to tear at the right edge. I try to make sure the media is taped onto the take up roll as straight as possible. This has happened on my last three tries. I have tried using a different media but with the same results.

See the attached photos.

Hi pideas1,

Latex 300 units have the same type of spindle for the media roll as the TUR. When using the TUR the right and left end caps must be removed from the TUR spindle leaving just the media core, this will avoid media edge deformation and media wrinkles that might move upwards towards the printing zone.

2”Spindle considerations:

The right end cap for 2” spindles cannot be removed. The recommendation is to load the media about 10mm to the left so it will also have the same 10mm gap when loading the TUR spindle.

For more information about the TUR, I'll recommend you to watch the following video:

Hope this helps
