HP Latex 64 Cutter - digitize point message

#1 SWurthmann 4 years ago

I am trying to use my cutter to cut kiss and perf cut. We have successfully done this recently. We are now getting a message that says "Digitize point". Prior to that the cutter suddenly stopped actually cutting. It would read the barcodes and act as if it were cutting the kiss and perf (meaning it would go through all the motions of cutting) but not actually cut. Can anyone please advise?

Hello @SWurthmann

  1. Check that the marks are visible and printed with correct print quality (color, size/shape, software used to print the markers).
  2. Check that the OPOS is in good conditions (clean it, check that it can move by manually lowering it).
  3. Ensure that the media to be cut matches the job sent to the cutter.
  4. Print the Media Calibration Test from SAI. Make sure to print it on the media that is causing the issue in the first place (use the same lamination if needed).
  5. Run Cal Media test in the Calibrations Menu. If it fails, continue with step 6.
  6. Run the OPOS Sensor test in the Service Menu to check the current reading of the reflection of the OPOS. Inside this test, move the OPOS by hand and position it above the black printed area (make sure the OPOS is in the down position), you should see a very high reflection value (>1300). Move the head over the white area, you should see now a very low reflection value (<600). If the reflection value is barely changing from black areas to white areas, this could be related to a faulty sensor or to the media/lamination used.
  7. To discard that the problem is caused by the media or lamination used, repeat the steps 2 and 3 but with a “standard white vinyl” without lamination. If this time the values are correct (>1300 over the black area and <600 over the white area), the problem is related to the media/lamination. For example, using very dark vinyl to print on could result in reading issues, also using a certain lamination that results in the same reflection for black and white could result in reading issues. If the values are still incorrect, your support representative is needed to repair the cutter on site.
