[Color variation and text-line correction OPTION] What is it ?

HP Latex 300 Series

Hi everybody,

I have read on this forum that activataing Color variation and text-line correction option could increase print quality and sometimes banding issue. Then, in the printer frontpanel under Image-quality maintenance > Color variation and text-line correction > I turned it ON.

But I have see no difference on my prints. I just want to know what does this option do in reality because I was thinking that it automatically add spit bars but I don't see it. What does this option do in reality to increase color text print quality ?

#1 This option was not designed to improve IQ in all scenarios, just for a very specific ones. When color variation and text-line correction option is enabled, carriage is spiting some small drops of ink over all plot in order to keep PH's spiting, doing that we keep the PH's working all the time preventing some IQ effects that could produce the PH because is cold.

Is this the solution for all IQ issues, of course not, you will notice improvement in some specific jobs which contains big non printed areas followed by text or area fills.

By enabling this option spit bars will not appear automatically but for sure is the best complement for this option if it's enabled.

Hi Sonia, OK, thanks for answer. That's interesting.

  • Does the printer do small drops of ink all over media even on blank surfaces ? (I didn't see anything)
  • Does this option preserves Printheads and increase PH durability ?
  • Does this option use more ink ?
  • What could be the negative effect to keep this option always on ?

#3 The size of the drops are really small, due to its minimum size, the ink consumption is not really relevant. And of course it doesn’t affect to PrintHead durability.

The negative side effect could be to find several dots ( of the color selected) all over the job. They are hard to find but they are present and for some customers this is not acceptable that's because we just recommend it for jobs with text or with big non printed areas surrounded by colors.

I hope this clarification helps

OK, thanks, always very interesting. Then the printer do small drops of ink even on blank surfaces. When you said several dots ( of the color selected). Why "of the color selected"? We have to select a color ?

OK, thank you so much. I will try to see these color dots when printing. All is clear.

I'm going to do a little off topic, I don't want my email address to appear as Username in this forum, I tried to modify it on my account and it's impossible. Do you know how to do ?

Does this forum (http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/HP-Latex-300-Series-Discussions/) will be closed in the future ?
